What Is Digital Print?
Printing can be a complex beast with lots of different machines, processes, and printing options. Digital printing is one of the more ‘modern’ methods of printing. It is a process of printing materials directly from file to paper (or other substrates). What this does is it eliminates the process of traditional plate making which can be time and cost saving as well as more eco-friendly. This obviously keeps all parties happy.
Digital printers are constantly improving in aspects such as efficiency, quality, and capabilities. Once the ‘new kid on the block,’ we are now starting to see the technology come into full force. We anticipate that over time digital printing may be able to compete even further with litho printing. Let us see how this all goes…
When can you Digitally Print?
Digital print is the most popular form of printing, and at Chroma we have our own digital printer in-house, the HP Indigo 7900. Digital printing mainly prioritises small runs of print, focusing on adding high quality and full detail to your prints, guaranteeing excellent results, and leaving your prints standing out above the rest. As well as producing outstanding results, Digital printing adds an element of personalisation, this is done by sending files containing personalised text or imagery to the digital printer. The digital printer then digests the edits and differences of each file and prints out accordingly.
What can you Digitally Print?
The beauty of digital print is its versability. At Chroma we take advantage of this, allowing you to print out your own project on a number of bespoke papers.
With the HP Indigo 7900 the printing possibilities are nearly endless. The Indigo allows for easy personalisation of print, different ink textures, alterior paper sizes and weights (gsm), Pantone® colour match technology and print in metallic and white colours. Using the HP Indigo 7900 really allows you to make your printing project your own.
